How to avoid making the same Mistakes other German Shepherd owners are making.... (more)

Prepare for Your German Shepherd Puppy by Bringing it to Calm Surroundings

When preparing for your German Shepherd puppy to come home it is advisable to bring it home when the house surrounding is calm and noise-free. One should discourage friends and visitors for a little while until a daily routine is established for the new puppy. It would be nice to take it out to its designated bathroom area outside the house and spend a few minutes there. Then take the German Shepherd to its crate and this area should serve as its new home. One should also quickly learn its behavior and interact with it to establish a relationship with it.

    Purchase Essential Puppy Items

You may begin preparing for your German Shepherd puppy when it arrives by purchasing many items that are necessary for making both the puppy as well as the home a safe as well as puppy-proof place. Some basic articles one would need to purchase are the puppy’s bowls, puppy food, a collar and an ID tag, some leashes, a crate as well as baby gates. One may also require some grooming tools as well as toys for the German Shepherd puppy.

Securing or removing dangerous items like any electrical cords, fertilizers, household chemicals and sharp objects is necessary and also having an escape-proof fence surrounding the yard in the house should help in creating a secure and safe area which the puppy can call its own. Once the German Shepherd puppy is in the home one should keep things low-key and on its first day, one could introduce it to its sleeping place, which very often, is its crate and get it to sleep in it overnight.

87% of all dogs DIE way too early because of the food they are fed. Find out how to STOP this happening to your German Shepherd!

Remember also, that when the German Shepherd puppy first comes home it may not be at all attuned to its new environment and so an adjustment period shall take place and it could last hours, days, weeks and even months. Also being well prepared for the arrival of the German Shepherd puppy is the best way to welcome it into a new world. Give it a couple of chew toys and buy a brush and if one wants, buy it a dog bed as well. One should also know beforehand how much is keeping the German Shepherd puppy going to cost and budget accordingly.

When making financial preparations for your German Shepherd puppy, consider the fact that since the German Shepherd is a large animal one should expect its monthly outlay to come to a bigger figure. A major amount of the monthly outlay would naturally be taken up by its food. One would need to buy good puppy food and this may be dry, canned or packaged and should cost between $10 to $40 or more a month. Giving it extra vitamins may cost you another $10 or so.

One would also need to get it vaccinated and one would also need to upgrade its collar and license as it will grow and need a new collar, most likely. The German Shepherd puppy will also require regular grooming and this may be done at home and for this one would have to buy dog shampoo and it may also need to have flea protection properties. As part of a responsible preparation for your German Shepherd puppy, one would also need to train the dog and so may have to take it to an obedience club in the vicinity and also need to contact a veterinarian close by for its vaccinations.

Once the preparations for the German Shepherd puppy are complete and the puppy has arrived, it follows that we begin creating a living space for your German Shepherd puppy at once so that it gets comfortable and gets used to its new home.
