When owning a dog, it's always a good thing to make it as independent as
possible. For instance, if you dog really has to go outside in the middle of the
night, you have no choice but to get up, annoying as it might be. By installing

time, without interrupting your sleep or any other activity you might be in the

It is very important to consider the safety of a dog door in your home. Small
dogs or toy dogs are not really a problem, since the doors for them tend to be
very small. But large dogs will need large dog doors in order to fit through
them without hurting themselves with the edges. With a big dog door, the chances
of somebody trying to get inside your house through it increase. Or, even a
smaller door can allow an intruder to reach up and unlock your door without even
being able to crawl through.

sellers you talk to. Your local pet supply store should have information to help
you make your decision based on safety.
Considering your Dog
Of course, the most important thing is to make sure that your dog can actually
go through the door effortlessly. If your dog is too big to fit through a door,
there's no point in buying it; also consider if your dog is strong enough to
push open the door or if the door is too heavy for your pet to open. This last
part is sometimes overlooked and then owners have to replace the door at a
bigger expense.
